Heroes Season 2, Episode 3: Kindred Review

Scratch what I previously written about where Sylar and Peter switching roles as antagonist and protagonist. Clearly, Sylar is back and he is still one bad ass except he is injured and hurt. It was obvious when the girl with the illusion powers turned out to be a fat chick; it was already hypothetically guessed from Season 1.

Also returning in this episode was Ali Larter’s character, Nikki/Jessica and her son, Micah. Keeping the tradition from season one, she still ties to “the company” and since there is no more Linderman, they built the story around the “company.”

Here are some recaps from Episode 3:

Peter hooks up with his new Irish girlfriend; which was obvious, but she is a bit annoying isn’t she. She was obviously seducing him but come on, his storyline could better. Now he doesn’t even want to know who he was in the past given the box they hold.
The entire Maya and Alejandro storyline bores me. I am sure they play a huge role in season two but come on, after three episodes, they are still on the run and have gotten no where. Mind as well exclude them, we don’t need that much character building. What is Maya’s power? Some uncontrollable plague that kills and her brother’s power is to equalize it? Booooo!
Claire found a new boyfriend, the stalker boy who was outside her house when she snapped off her toes. His power is to fly but I still think there is something awkward about him. Doesn’t seem right but right now, he plays the part as a lonely guy with super powers who finds Claire who also has a hidden ability.
HRG and the Haitian reunite. Thats sweet. Now they can get down to business. It seems Mohinder is also in the loop working with them to take down the company that HRG used to work for. It also appears like Parkman is not included but somehow they need him around since they need someone to babysit Molly.

With that, I anticipate tonights episode and hope more will be revealed. I think we need a really good episode in order for the story to pick up. Lets see what happens.

The hottest tv show: Gossip Girl

3 episodes so far, and I am addicted to it! I didn’t think I’d like it one bit. Seeing posters all over the mall, and ads all over the place, but I had to watch it just to see what all the hype was about. Gossip Girl is such a great show! It’s fun and exciting watching the life of a bunch of gorgeous east coast rich students. It makes you feel like a teenager all over again. Haha! Not really, but it’s very entertaining, and gorgerous boys and girls! This show teaches you everything life can offer such as: consideration, loyalty, friendship, honesty, rivalry, security, love….and everything else you can imagine. This is all out of 3 episodes so far. After watching the show I went to check out the cast. Here’s some info about them:

	BLAKE LIVELY as SERENA VAN DER WOODSEN Serena is the new mysterious hot girl on the block. She’s a hottie, fun, down to earth, sincere, and loves attention, although she doesn’t admit it. All the guys seem to flock to this tall and sexy blonde!
	LEIGHTON MEESTER as BLAIR WALDORF Have you ever read the comic book “Archies”? She’s the new Veronica Lodge, who is beautiful and rich, and usually has everything done her way. Click here for more info on Veronica Lodge-> http://www.archiecomics.com/whoswho/riverdale/whos-who-riverdale.htm In this case, Blair is the popular, gorgerous, cute, and sophisticated girl that everyone adores and the daughter of a well-known clothing designer. She seems kind of biatchy, but there’s a soft side to her that is just waiting to come out…in these episodes…Can’t wait! I just love Blair, she’s so adorable!
	PENN BADGLEY as DAN HUMPHREY Dan is also the new kid on the block. He is somewhat of the underdog out of this rich elite crowd because he wasn’t brought up from a well and prestigious background, but has always been very ambitions. Dan’s sort of a loner, cool, intelligent, and funny. He’s super cute and smart…I hope there is chemistry between him and Serena! Although I actually like Blair better for him and it would’ve been awesome if they had hooked up…=D
	CHACE CRAWFORD as NATE ARCHIBALD Nate is the rich son of the Archibalds, who is unwilling to respect the demands of his strict father. He is dating Blair. Nate seems like he is in a hard position trying to fullfill everyone’s demands, but wants a different path in life compared to his loved ones. He seems very good hearted but just lost…in a material world.
	ED WESTWICK as CHUCK BASS Chuck is the party animal, obnoxious, self-centered, and rude buddy of Nate’s, who is always trying evil ways to scheme someone. He totally reminds me of “Reggie” in the “Archies” comic book. No one messes with Chuck! Beware!
	TAYLOR MOMSEN as JENNY HUMPHREY Jenny is Dan’s pretty little sister. She’s a darling, very innocent, and is trying her best to fit in to the new school. I hope she stays that way, and doesn’t change…She’s such a sweetheart!
	MATTHEW SETTLE as RUFUS HUMPHREY Rufus is the cool hot has been rocker star daddy of Dan and Jenny. He seems like a great and sensitive father who is willing to risk anything for his babies. This guy is a total catch! Supposedly he has had a fling with Serena’s mama…Oooh, I hope something happens between them two!
	KELLY RUTHERFORD as LILY VAN DER WOODSEN This is Serena’s mama..She’s beautiful, stuck up, classy, flirty, smart and sassy. Keep your daddies out of sight from her, she’s a man eater! From what it seems right now, she’s the total opposite of Serena, although she
	NAN ZHANG as KATY FARKAS Katy is one of Blair’s loyal “in” friends that tag along with her everywhere she goes.
	NICOLE FISCELLA as ISABEL COATES Isabel is another of Blair’s loyal “in” friends that tag along with her everywhere she goes.

Ugly Betty Episode 2 ” Family Affair” Recap

So let’s recap last week’s episode:

1. Alex, Daniel Meade’s older brother, forgets his memory (everything from his mother going to jail for Murder, ahem..cough cough! changing certain body parts to become Alexis, being disowned by his father, Bradford, finding out about his father’s affair with Fey before and now with Wilhelmina, Vanessa Williams, which is about to get married soon..)

2. Bradford uses Alex’s amnesia to reconcile with his two sons, which Daniel Mead finds confusing and terribly weird.

3. Amanda discovers she is the daughter of Fey, which leaves her with a dog, this weird hairless looking creature. In this episode, you actually see a soft and sweet side of ( a really burned fake tan) Amanda.

4. Wilhelmina surprises everyone with a sexy and hot bodyguard, Rick Fox, which must be a weird appearance since they were actually together in real life before.

5. Betty sneaks into Wilhelmina’s house to look for the MODE book in spite of her loyalty to Daniel Mead, which gets stuck in mess under her bed, while Wilhelmina and Rick Fox are doing the nasty. But then gets caught by Wilhelmina since she accidentally leaves her earring on the floor. The result of that incident lead Wilhelmina to blackmail Betty by telling her not to mention any of this to Daniel Mead, because Daniel’s father Bradford and Wilhelmina are about to get married soon, and if Betty agrees, then she will get Betty’s dad a visa to come back to the U.S., since he is stuck in Mexico and is planning to cross the border illegally. This agreement is actually really good for Betty, but she is willing to sacrifice this just because she is such a loyal person to Daniel. Of course in the end she agrees to save Papa Suarez.

6. Justin, who is Betty’s sister’s son and who just lost his dad, starts his internship at MODE, and his relationship with Mark, who is Wilhelmina’s assistant, is all too adorable, because they’re somewhat similar, with the same background of losing a father and being fabulously gay.

7. Henry, the cute geeky accountant at Mode, who Betty is very interested in, but has a girlfriend who is pregnant right now, comes back from Texas, only to find out from Betty’s friend at work, that his girlfriend has been cheating on him, and now Betty is confused…should she be nice and be there for Henry or leave him to his own misery? I think Betty should just leave him alone. She’s already has too much to handle to get involved in this 3 way madness….

Here’s a quote from Wilhelmina to Betty: “Come on girl, I am black, you’re Mexican. Let’s not talk around it like a couple of dull white people.”

The return of Heroes! After two episode review…

I welcome the return of Heroes with wide open arms as this is definitely one of my favorite shows since it began. And after the second episode, I can only say that this series is just as entertaining as where it left off. The story of the second season starts about 6 months after the first season ends and a lot has changed. Nathan Petrelli is no longer theCongressmen who is looking towards becoming the President of the United States. His younger brother is missing and so is the main villain, Sylar. Claire, the lovable cheer leader and her father, referred to many as HRG (horned rimmed glasses) relocated to Coasta Verde, some city in California. And an introduction to a couple new characters in the story and the continuing developing story about the “Company” and the others that only the old-school Heroes characters know about such as Hiro’s dad, played by George Takei, and Nathan and Peter’s mom.

Here are some of the highlights that happened in the first two episodes:

Hiro is back in feudal Japan and meets his hero, the legendary Takezo Sensei, who is actually a white person.
Peter wakes up in an abandoned cargo container not remember who he is but somehow shows off glimpses of his power when under pressure.
Hiro’s dad and Nathan’s mom both get death threats and this results in Hiro’s dad dying.
Introduction to a twin brother and sister, the sister who’s ability is to give out a black plague.
Parkman and Mohinder are the caretakers of Molly, the little girl that can locate al the other Heroes.
Claire meets this strange boy that is fascinated and stalking her who strangely has the ability to fly.

The preview for the third episode shows Sylar returning and looked like he lost his memory as well. I have not seen anything on Jessica or Micah. Oddly, for the second storyline, I think since Peter lost his memory and is with a bunch of criminals, this might evolve into where Peter plays a villain and Sylar becoming a good hero. Thats a bit of a stretch, but it could happen and we all know this show is capable of throwing something like that at us. It would be cool if that happened and ending where both Sylar and Peter being misled in their roles reverses at the end. Perhaps there is a hidden antagonist in the background that will show up at the very end.

Can’t wait and I am looking forward to the third episode of Heroes next Monday on NBC at 9pm.

Ang Lee’s Lust, Caution [Se, jie] released

Shanghai, an extraordinary city that has become an epic-center of modern trade also has a rich history to it. In Ang Lee’s latest movie “Lust, Caution”, it portrays Shanghai in times during World War II. Lust, Caution features stars such as Tony Leung (2046, Infernal Affairs) and Joann Chen (The Last Emporer) and welcomes new-comer Wei Tang who plays a young woman, Wang Jiazhi, who finds herself in a deadly plot to bring down Mr. Yee (Tony Leung).

This movie has been receiving good reviews and no doubt any movie that Ang Lee directs will have amazing cinematography. I never was a fan of Brokeback Mountain but I am looking forward to this movie. The cast of phenomenal actors such as Tony Leung and Joann Chen is enough to justify this movie to be seen but include the rave reviews about new comer Wei Tang, I am waiting for this to be released intently. The plot and story line also sound very appealing and just the fact that it is set in Shanghai during a time when it is beginning to westernize will be interesting enough.

This move was release last week in very select few theaters but will be released in more theaters soon. It is rated NC-17 and below is a trailer:
